Birds Count: Citizen Science to Monitor Birds with the SWNM Bird Alliance

Did you know that southwest New Mexico has some of the highest bird diversity in North America? The SW NM Bird Alliance aims to collect data on these feathered residents and has launched a survey project called “Birding with Purpose.” And they want your help.
In this illuminating conversation, host Nan Franzblau talks with WNMU Biology Professor Bill Norris, WNMU Botany/Zoology student & Bird Alliance Board member Devyn Scott, and Bird Alliance Board member Will Mora. They explain why counting birds is important and how the data can help protect the fragile ecosystems our feathered friends call home.
